Miami, Florida is a legend in itself.
It was a great place to grow up in the fifties. Days
would glide one into another, simple and easy.
Like the times the band came to our house to
practice. I would slip ‘neath the window outside
and close my eyes as the magic drifted
through the screen.
The players practiced the sound that would vibrate
through the cabaret’s of Miami. This must be why
it is called…
The Magic City
The moment your eyes reflect the light,
the dancin’ n playin’ shine on.
South Beach
is the most famous hang-out in all
of Miami; celebrities love this place.
The Art Deco District
has the largest collection of art
deco architecture in the world.
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens
is a historical landmark that I used to pass nearly
every day. It is my most powerful memory.

Coconut Grove
I lived here in my mid-teens. Years later I returned with
fascination when Anthony Perkins performed on stage.
Magic City Casino
I think this used to be the Flagler race track. The greyhounds
would chase a rabbit ‘round the rail till they gave out.
Now it’s slot machines and roulette wheels
spinnin’ the night away.
Fontainebleau
This name just will not die in Miami. I grew up
with it. Famous people from all over the world
come here to greet and meet, play and perform.
You can’t visit all the great places
in Miami during one vacation.
