Is WordPress Worth It?

Before I write one more word on another subject I have to talk about WordPress. I have said for years there is no such thing as free … until WordPress. Yes, there are restrictions like no ads on your blog, and limits on the amount of space. Still, millions of us take advantage of WordPress.

For three years now I have had a blog using WordPress. When I started I knew absolutely nothing. It surprised me how easy they made it, took me step-by-step through the process.

When I changed the name of my blog the process to import it to a new site was easy. There are so many themes.  I use Twenty Ten where I design my own header (which I love). Also, there is a lot of plugins so I can do much more with my site.

I’m not saying WordPress is perfect, yet I have had very few problems. Aaand there is WordPress Codex if I get into trouble.

Let’s talk reality. When millions are tapping into your software, cost and space become a factor. Now, you can limit your blog or do as I did … purchase more space (I use lots of photos). It costs so little and is well worth it.

Something else I did was to buy my domain name. It cost a pittance and gives me a feeling of freedom and authority.

This is not an ad; it is just me reaching out. Blogging has opened a whole new world to millions … and I’m one. I have made wonderful new friends and with my WordPress blog I can share with them what I have learned, respond to their point of view, and tell them my stories.

Many bloggers don’t know that there are hundreds of community volunteers behind the WordPress organization.

So, from to you WordPress, I say thank you. I am grateful for all of you who work so hard for me. You’re the best! May 2012 bring you many blessings and more success.
