A Close Look At Nuclear Energy

Years ago I went on a pilgrimage with a group from my church. In France it was natural to see locals out in the fields right next to a nuclear plant.

This nuclear plant is located near Dukovany, Czech Republic.

A containment building houses the nuclear reactor.

The reactor is the heart of a nuclear power plant. Concrete
keeps radiation from escaping.

Pipes carry steam from the reactor that is used to
produce electricity.

This is the nuclear power plant generator.

The control room monitors every aspect of the
nuclear reactor.

Nuclear power relies on steam to produce energy.

A cooling tower chills the steam as it
leaves the reactor.

Two cooling towers and a domed containment building
for the reactor.

A nuclear power plant at night…
