Bloggers To Lose Internet Rights

Here’s what is going on. Yesterday (May 13), Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski told a group of cable executives that he intends to pursue a “narrow and tailored” approach to regulating broadband networks to adoption, competition and innovation. That’s double-talk for: he and his buddies intend to ignore the court, side step Congress and take over the Internet.

“What we want to have in the U.S. and in every society is an Internet that is not private property, but a public utility.” Robert McChesney said that; he’s the founder of the Free Press group. Their communications director was hired by FCC Chairman Genachowski in his attempt to regulate the Internet.

If Genachowski and his cronies get their way … it’s a death-blow to bloggers. If the Internet becomes a “public utility” the government gets control of the most powerful tool of communication in the world. Do you have any doubt that bloggers will lose the freedom to say what we want? Especially about the government?

Let’s face it; little by little the government is taking over everything: Banks, Insurance Companies, Automakers, Health Care. Now Washington wants to take over the Internet, which means government control over what we say on Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, etc. I also believe this administration will put a separate tax on these accounts.

If you use the Internet this affects your life. It’s just more big government, another takeover, and more loss of freedom.  Not to mention more taxation. Only, this is one takeover we can stop by signing the petition at: I already gave my signature. How about you?
