Elizabeth Edwards: Not Going To Feed The Monster

by Maxi

John and Elizabeth Edwards have four children: Jack 9, Emma Claire 11, Cate 27, and Wade, who died in an auto accident at 16

When I heard that John Edward had admitted publicly to being the baby’s daddy it was no surprise. Actually, my first thought was why admit it now? Two seconds later the light went on, someone must be releasing the story.

This morning I watched a video clip of Elizabeth Edwards — four times. You know when you hear something and there’s a nagging, a picking at the back of your brain that can’t put your finger on? You just know there is something not quite right in what you’re hearing? Well, that’s how I felt.

First of all, let me say this: I was a thirty-one-year-old single mother when I fought my battle with advanced uterine cancer; so my heart goes out to Elizabeth Edwards.

Still, I find these remarks challenging:

“I think John is relieved that this is behind him … the whole family is relieved.”

When asked by AP reporter: “NBC reports that you are believed to be separated…” Elizabeth cut in, “I’m not going to talk about our marital status. My marriage status shouldn’t be on anybody’s radar screen but mine. The focus should be on Health Care, Haiti…

The reporter pressed for more information: “Still, people are interested. Where do things go from here?

“If somebody has a crystal ball they should let me know,” Elizabeth retorted.

Pushing for that last little tidbit, he asked, “Is there anything else they should know?”

“No, I’m not going to feed the monster.”
