Have you ever had pain and put off going to the doctor? Figured the problem would heal on its own? That’s what I did … biiig mistake.
There is a lot of pain in my right arm, some in the left. Now the pain has spread and it’s worse. Wearing an Ace bandage does nothing; I use Lidocaine patches and take Darvocet, neither helps.
I went to the Orthopedist who did surgery on my elbows years ago thinking the problem might be connected, it’s not. He suspected it could be carpal tunnel or might stem from herniated discs in my neck. Wednesday I had two tests:
NCV Test: small patches attached to recording electrodes are placed on certain nerves; a double prong is used to send a small electrical current to the nerve to assess the speed. This can asses if there is any damage.
EMG Test: thin needles are inserted into
the muscles of the arm, neck, leg to test
the electrical activity.
My test results were negative.
Here’s what I know. The pain in my neck has become worse in the past few years. It’s more severe on the right than the left; just as the pain in my right arm is greater than the left.
Here’s what else I know. I have one nerve left and this problem is on it.
Have you ever dealt with this? Any suggestions?
