“He really wanted a film career.” Rusty Lemorande, friend of 25 years
That was the shocking surprise yesterday in the transcripts of interviews that I receive from BlogTalkRadio.
Michael Jackson’s friend, Rusty Lemorande, is a producer and told BlogTalk that it was actually going to happen. There were two films he wanted Michael to remake: 7 Faces of Dr. Lao with Tony Randall and Angels with Dirty Faces.
Have you ever heard of James Cagney? Always played the tough guy? He starred in Angels with Dirty Faces, Michael Jackson adored him.
“Michael loved both projects,” said Rusty. “Part of it was the way I explained it to him, talked him through it. We had sketches done and creatures made – you had to turn it into the toy version.”
“On Dr. Lao, we had set miniatures built of the circus and he committed to both, which was a major event at the time.”
Michael Jackson’s only big-screen appearance was:
Scarecrow in 1978’s “The Wiz.”
This would be different. This was his big chance. These films were going to make Michael Jackson a movie star.
Then the first scandal hit…
You know what I’m talking about, accusations of child
abuse. It was over before it began.
May Your Glass Always Be Half Full
