“… each individual can make an impact.” Neda Soltan
Caspian Makan, a 37-year-old photojournalist, knew the protest in Tehran would be huge. He also knew it would be extremely dangerous and did not want his girlfriend to go.
He said he had asked her not to go … feared she would be arrested … or shot.
Neda Soltan, a 27-year-old music student, went anyway.
The couple had met only a few short months ago, still, we all know how close hearts can become no matter the time. During their weeks together Neda had revealed to Caspian her belief: “Iranians don’t always have to fight and quarrel and be violent and have death. In the past and today Iranians believe there’s only one thing they must fight and that’s ignorance.”
Caspian also declared that Neda said: “She wanted only one thing; she wanted democracy and freedom for the people of Iran.”
Neda told Caspian, “Our attendance would be worthwhile even if a bullet hits my heart.”
The “green-wave” movement has crossed the world in her honor;I am part of it.
