Daniel Hauser, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma victim
This is such a gut-wrenching story…
Daniel Hauser is thirteen; he has Hodgkin’s lymphoma, doctors say with chemotherapy and radiation his cancer is highly curable, a 90 per cent chance of survival. Only Daniel quit chemo after a single treatment.
Daniel and his mother, Colleen Hauser, belong to the Nemenhah Band, a Missouri-based religious group that believes in natural healing methods.
They have disappeared and Daniel’s father has testified that he doesn’t know where they are. Judge John Rodenberg has issued an arrest warrant for Colleen Hauser and ordered the boy placed in foster care.
Is this boy’s mother only going along with her son’s wishes? Or is it the group that has the influence? Should a parent allow a child of thirteen to make a life-threatening decision?
What do you think? How do you feel about this mother’s decision to leave with her son?
