The truth is out ladies … we are the stronger sex … at least when it comes to fighting infection.
Research by the McGill University in Canada suggests that estrogen, the female sex hormone, gives women’s immune system extra umph at fighting off infection.
There is an enzyme called Caspase-12 which slows the inflammatory process, this is the body’s first line of defense against bacteria and viruses.
The human Caspase-12 gene was implanted into a group of male and female mice, but only the males became more prone to infection.
This is what researchers wrote in the medical journal: “A question remains: will men be amenable to the idea of being treated with an exclusively female hormone?”
