State Department Sends Twitter Rep to Iraq

It’s obvious that I love Twitter and WordPress, but this move by the people in the State Department makes no sense. They have sent representatives of YouTube, WordPress, Twitter and other tech companies to “explore new opportunities in Iraq’s new media industry.”

Our State Department wants to: provide some real vision, promote true guidelines for accountability, build upon a civil society, etc. by providing for network building.

Sounds great … except we are talking about a country where only 5% of Iraqi’s have access to the Internet. (Unless I’m wrong and you have a blogger buddy  over there.)

Why should we care? Once again, guess who is footin’ the bill for this insanity?
