Sexting: Image or Attitude

She couldn’t take the pain anymore … so Jessica Logan hung herself in her bedroom, cell phone in the middle of the floor. It ripped my heart out; this girl was only eighteen. Why would she do such a thing?

As a writer, most of my time is spent at the computer in my home office. Still, I know what goes on in the world. I used to tell my girls that men are no different than we are. If they really care — the phone will be ringing, they will be on your doorstep, and nothing will stop them from trying to see you.

Over the years, society has gone down this slippery slope that has progressed into an attitude that anything we want to do is okay. Guys call girls up in the middle of the night for a “booty call,” oral sex isn’t sex, twelve-year-olds are committing suicide because they can’t handle the bullying, teens video brutal beatings just to put it on youtube … and girls are sexting “hot images” of themselves to their boyfriends.

Why do you suppose that is?
