Disaster Strikes My Family

by Maxi

They never saw it coming. Bernadette and Dave, my daughter and son-in-law, were working and taking care of their daughter, Brittany. It was hard, but the bills were paid and they had food on the table … then Dave got laid off. Next, Bernadette lost her job.

Now, Dave is here in Florida working for his friend’s dad. Bernadette and Brittany are still in  West Virginia. They are packing up the house and getting ready to make the move down here. They will stay with us till Dave can find a place for them. Fortunately, we are only thirty miles from where he is staying.

This is so hard on Brittany; she has never been separated from her daddy and doesn’t understand. It will be more confusing when she and her mommy move here and they are living with us. She won’t understand why her daddy doesn’t live here, that it’s too far from his job. She’s only four-years-old.
