What Are These People Thinking?

$887 billion $925 billion

Stimulus: something that rouses to activity – according to Webster

Pelosi and Company weren’t thinking of activity like, you know, jobs when they put this Stimulus Bill together. ‘Cause this $887 billion monster is spend, spend, spend. And where do think they’re gettin’ the money folks?

Take a look at this:

$1.1 billion for Amtrak
$300 million for AmeriCorps
$1 billion for Census
$400 million to buy green buses

$650 million to give Digital-to-Analog box coupons
$600 million for the acquisition of green cars
$7.7 billion for the Federal Buildings Fund

$600 million for new cars for federal government
$7 billion to modernize federal buildings

Massive Welfare Additions:

$36 billion expanded unemployment
$20 billion food stamps
$83 billion earned income credit for those who don’t pay income tax
$81 billion Medicaid

President Obama swore during his campaign: “There would be no more earmarks.”  Really? Let’s see…

$50 million for National Endowment for the Arts
$400 million for climate change research
$200 million for contraception
$200 million to plant sod on the National Mall
$150 for honey bee insurance

And so on.

This Bill can’t possibly stimulate anything but bigger government and bigger debt. For us, our kids, and our grandkids.

Only $90 billion creates growth in the economy. Aaaand less than 5% of that is for fixing bridges and highways.
