Hurricane Fay

August 18, 2008 by Maxi

Hell hath no fury … this woman may go on the warpath. Having lived in Florida all my life, well except for a smidgen, I know about storms. They are unpredictable and will ‘reach out and touch someone’ for miles and miles.

When I was little we stayed at my grandparent’s house during a storm. My grandpa was a carpenter and he built the house they lived in; it was bigger and sturdier than ours. Had shutters and everything. That was a big deal in our neighborhood.

My parents had moved to Florida before my grandparents and bought this wood frame house. No way safe for hurricanes. Especially with five and six kids. Seven in the end.

Another thing—I’m supposed to have the first eye surgery Wednesday, the 20th. Wonder if the Eye Institute will call and cancel today.

If I don’t do any posting the next few days it will be because of the weather.
