Hey … you really made my day by being here. This blogging business is new to me but I decided to jump in so I can talk to people. About the books, of course, but soup to nuts really. Like the following incident:
The girl was rushing from the school yard when someone jerked her by the hair into the jungle gym. She was shocked, speechless. No one noticed; they were in a hurry to get home.
The boy said he had been watching her, that she was going to be his girlfriend. He babbled on and on. Then he took a stick and drew a heart in the dirt. Inside he carved their initials, J.Q. + A.T.
He never let go of her hair; she never said a word. Finally, an hour later, he let her go.
When she reached home and was scolded for being late—the girl said said nothing. She was nine-years-old.
This actually happened. There are many stories just like it. They got worse as she grew older. Still, she remained silent.
Why do you think the boy did that? And why didn’t the girl say anything? To him? Or to defend herself? Has anything like this ever happened to you?
